 'Hipjoint Golf' originated in 2010 when a small group of enthusiastic golfing friends from the Edinburgh area took part in a series of fundraising golf outings in aid of the Arthritis Care Charity (now titled Versus Arthritis).

The outings included three challenging golfing venues where 24 month reduced rate country memberships were arranged and these 'joined at the hip' competitive chums, after making a donation, played for small sweepstakes at Forrester Park Golf Club near Dunfermline, Dunblane New Golf Club in Perthshire and the now closed Whitekirk Golf Club near North Berwick.... 

Over the first two years £2,000 was donated to the National Arthritis Care Charity....in 2013 an annual fundraising golf day the Hipjoint Golf Challenge was created as more golfing friends offered to participate in the fundraising effort....we were now donating directly to local Arthritis related causes mainly to the elderly community affected by the condition....in 2017 we were introduced to the locally related SNAC charity which supports children and their families affected by JIA ( juvenile idiopathic arthritis) and we feel privileged to have been able to raise funds for this very worthy cause....

In 2023 we then had our annual Golf fundraising day at Kilspindie Golf Club with 90 participants in our last invitational event and raised £4,000 for the SNAC charity ...amazing to think that it all started with around half a dozen golfing chums at the start of our fantastic journey........not bad progress looking back! 

However we decided to go out on a high as the number of participants was growing and making the event much harder to organise and we don't think that the last total could be matched so it was time for a wee break....

...in 2024 there still remained the question... how do we keep playing for the Hipjoint Challenge Trophy as it would be a shame to stop the event completely.....so we downsized the competition to 36 competitors and played a non fundraising event...but still raised £500 for a local charity!!! 

2025 could be interesting as we might just go on the road again 12 years on with some of that original group of  enthusiastic golfing friends  and see where it takes us...watch this space! 

One Hipjoint golfer who took part in these outings would like to dedicate this website to 'Scottish Golf' and everyone who plays a part in making it so enjoyable.....

These pages have also been created to offer a small 'promotional' contribution towards the Scottish golf industry by providing a few informative links to a selection of recommended Golf Clubs, businesses and organisations that play a major role in it's ongoing success.

Most of our promotional links will initially feature Golf Clubs around Edinburgh and east central Scotland as we have already established many reliable contacts in this region.

By providing links to other Scottish golf related  contemporary websites and relaying informative recommendations from them we hope to 'connect' to many other golfing organisations throughout Scotland.

Hopefully, some positive 'mentions' in our golf course reviews may encourage more people to play golf in Scotland and enjoy discovering the many 'under the radar, non mainstream, hidden golfing gems' that exist not only in the Scottish countryside but in and around our quaint villages, traditional towns and dynamic cities.

 We would also like to help promote other Scottish golf fundraising events and projects that would benefit from more online exposure by providing links to them on this website.
